GRAND SAINT BERNARD, SWITZERLAND 07. OCTOBER 2005 -- At the highest point at the mountains between Switzerland and Italy, 2473 meter or 8114 feet over water, lies Hospice Saint-Bernard in the once so fearfull pass. A time where the legendery Saint Bernard Dog in cooperation with the helpfull monks saved many human lifes, when people where surprised by avalanches. Now mondern civilisation has made tunnels, the Hospice has turned into a tourist attraction during summer, and a place to rest for people with problems during the winter. The Saint Bernard Dog is not needed anymore to save any distressed people, and does only stay at the pass during summers - for the tourists only...-- PHOTO: CHRISTIAN T.
